Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Requirement

The requirement applies to vehicle and engine manufacturers, and suppliers of fossil fuels. The standards state that these entities must report annual GHG emissions, and specified entities must report carbon dioxide emissions.

Program Administrator:
US Environmental Protection Agency EPA

Applicable to:

  • Vehicle and engine manufacturers
  • Suppliers of fossil fuels or industrial GHGs and facilities that emit at least 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year

Requirements:

  • Must report annual GHG emissions to the EPA
  • Vehicle and engine manufacturers outside of the light-duty sector (including heavy trucks, motorcycles, non-road engines and equipment) must report carbon dioxide emissions levels starting with Model Year 2011, along with GHG emissions in subsequent model years
